Pure digital "art", i.e. will most likely look awful in print. I think that what digital art really needs to establish its own raison d'etre (sorry for the missing accent circonflexe, I'm just too lazy to venture outside the realm of ASCII 32-127), is a kind of digital system which has the external-power-independence, general ease of use and stability of paper. In other words digital paper onto which an image can be stored and which would be capable of extracting the energy needed to display the image from the amount of ambient light which is needed to read from a sheet of paper to begin with. In contrast with normal printed paper, new text and/or images could be loaded onto a sheet of digital paper on the fly. In any case the "device" has to go because it's a drag. Just imagine: the paperless office in reverse!
